About the Founder
Reconnecting India — and the world — with the authentic tastes, aromas, and traditions of Mithila through carefully sourced, ethically processed, and artisanally packaged food products that carry the living soul of Bihar's harvest culture.
Maithili Harvest is more than a business — it is a calling. What began as a deep reverence for Bihar's ancient agricultural traditions has grown into a formally registered food and agri-startup, incorporated in February 2026, dedicated to bringing the finest traditional and regional products to modern Indian and global markets.
Amit Kumar has built this brand entirely from the ground up — navigating the full arc of compliance firsthand: import-export licensing (IEC), FSSAI food safety registrations, and e-commerce packaging standards. Every product on the shelf carries his personal commitment to authenticity, quality, and fair sourcing directly from local Mithila farmers.
From hand-selected indigenous spices to exotic indoor plants — Maithili Harvest is actively expanding what "local food" can mean at scale. The mission is clear: the harvest of Mithila deserves a place in every Indian kitchen, and in homes far beyond.
"The soil of Mithila has nourished generations. Our work is simply to carry that nourishment forward — with integrity, care, and enduring pride in where we come from."
— Amit Kumar, Founder

Our Journey
Key milestones in Amit Kumar's entrepreneurial journey — retail, street food, education, delivery platforms, and Maithili Harvest.
The entrepreneurial journey began in Darbhanga, Bihar. With a passion for serving quality food and everyday essentials, Amit Kumar opened a small retail store built on trust, customer relationships, and dedication — the foundation of what would later become Maithili Harvest.

A new chapter began in Kolkata with the launch of Puchkawala — bringing authentic Mithila street flavours to a wider audience while learning branding, customer experience, and food entrepreneurship.

Amit began his Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) in Kolkata — balancing academics with entrepreneurship. This year strengthened both business discipline and digital thinking for the brand ahead.

The business embraced digital transformation by partnering with leading food delivery platforms. Joining Zomato and Swiggy enabled thousands of customers across Kolkata to enjoy the products while significantly increasing operational reach.

With growing recognition, the team expanded into corporate catering, event food services, and brand operations. Market research, packaging innovation, and supplier partnerships laid the groundwork for Maithili Harvest.

Maithili Harvest was officially launched with a mission to bring the authentic taste of Mithila to households across India — from Makhana, pickles, and traditional sweets to heritage grains and spices.
